Still getting the hang of things... {2 months!}

 

Anberlin is two months old today! :)

This month Anberlin took her first road trip to St. Louis and got her first set of shots. {I already blogged about that, so if you missed it click here!} She also got to meet her other grandparents. My parents came out for an extended weekend to meet their new granddaughter. :)

After they left, not before spoiling her first though, we were busy trying to get me all checked out of the Navy. That was a looong process and it meant that Anberlin had to spend a lot of time in her car seat following me to appointments. But somehow we were blessed with an amazingly awesome baby who didn't seem to care too much about not really having a schedule during the day. But finally all of that is now taken care of and I am officially separated from the Navy after 8 years and 10 months of service. :)

I'm trying to think of anything else that happened this month... On Monday night, we went to a beer tasting at Dogfish Head Alehouse (if you recall, this is where my water broke). We brought Bay and she slept the whole time (2 hours) and was such a good baby that one lady said she didn't even know she was there because she was so quiet. Then yesterday I took her out for a mama & baby date to the movies. TheBump.com sponsors this event once a month where mom's are encouraged to bring their baby to a certain movie theater for a movie on a certain day/time. They have the lights up more than a normal movie and the volume turned down. It was really awesome. She was awake for the beginning of the movie but I fed her and she took a nap the rest of the time.

So for now, we are just going day by day. Anberlin has a little cradle cap going on right now that we are trying to get rid of. Other than that, she is completely healthy. We are still watching out for any symptoms of Pyloric Stenosis, which runs in my family, but I am hoping we are going to dodge that altogether. We really love her and love being with her and watching her make funny faces and hang out with her right arm up in the air. She is hilarious. Sometimes before we go to bed, we make Anberlin faces at each other and laugh. {We are dorks, we know.} She pretty much sleeps through the night for the most part. We try to get her to bed between 8:30-9:30pm and she normally doesn't wake up again until about 1:30am for a feeding and a changing, then she sleeps again until about 6:30am. Her hair is still growing and changing colors. Some places looks like she has lost some hair but not too much. And her eyes are still gray. As for who she looks like, it's still pretty split down the middle for what other people think. I guess we will have to wait to find out... I think she just looks like herself.  <3

One Month!

 Anberlin is one month old today! :)

We have all had a really eventful month. From learning the ropes as a parent to her learning the ropes of how to live outside the womb. ;)
The first few nights at home were rough. Thinking back on it, I feel like hospitals shouldn't allow you to be discharged after like 3pm because it makes for a culture shock for everyone involved. Anberlin had no idea where she was or what has happening so she cried a lot those first two nights home until she got acclimated. But we survived... barely. By taking turns sleeping on the couch while she was in her pack and play in the living room. I recall crying because she was crying. Yeah, being a parent is hard. Haha.
But we had some help come a few days after we got home from the hospital. Brad's mom came to visit for a little over a week. She was a lot of help for us and would take some of the early morning shifts with Anberlin so we could sleep a little longer. She also got us out of the house and we went up to a small town north of us and also to DC. So Anberlin got to see the White House.

 After Brad's mom left we had a short break before Brad's brother arrived for a few days to see the baby. It was nice to have him around and for him to meet his niece.

She was scared of him at first...

...but he grew on her. ;)

And now it is just us again. Brad is back at work now and I am almost officially a Stay-At-Home Mom. I have a few more weeks left in Navy until I am separated. We are trying to get into somewhat of a routine with Anberlin but I honestly have no idea what to do with a newborn all day. So I feed her, play with her, and let her sleep, which she does a lot of during the day... She is actually not that bad of a sleeper during the night. Some nights she doesn't want to sleep at all and then others I will only have to get up once in the middle of the night to take care of her. She has been sleeping in her room, in her crib, pretty much the whole time, which is awesome because we were not fond of the idea of her sleeping in our room at all.
I think that we have been blessed with an amazing baby. She is so alert when she is awake and she smiles all the time!

I love watching her grow and learn. It's amazing to me to look at pictures from a month ago when she was born and see the changes she has already made. She is growing up wayyyy too fast already. <3

I have had a lot of people ask me if we were still going to update the baby blog now that Bean is here. The answer is yes. It probably won't be every week, more like a monthly thing unless something significant happens. But since we have so much to catch up on from my water breaking to her arrival to her heading home with us, I will be posting twice this week, once I get the birth story typed up.

Today Anberlin is one week old. Yes time is flying. Make it stop. At this rate she is going to be walking and talking way too soon! ;)

She has only been home with us for 3 days and we are still working out the adjustment period for all three of us but everyday gets better and easier. And it is all worth it in the end, no matter how much sleep we don't get.

So, I will be posting her birth story in the next few days (when I have time between feedings and diaper changes, haha).
